Everything is Not Black or White
I have a dear friend who lives in a world of black or white, off or on, good or bad, left or right. This tends to make decision making quick, but ultimately there is incredible stress in living with the belief that there are only two options in any situation. And then there is the upheaval of emotion when black doesn’t work and white isn’t a fit. Neither answer or solution is good enough. Maybe the wisdom of seeing much of life and its wonder as a continuum or rainbow of colorful possibilities comes with age. Weary of frustration with a black decision or a white one causes an individual to see a gentle place of maybe somewhere in the middle. Don’t get me wrong. I’m as annoyed as the next type A person with indecision and wishy washiness, but maybe our solution lies somewhere in a comfy house shoe of middledom. Not left and not right. But somewhere in the sliding scale of what if different.
